On the 30th of October at 12 noon, says Tanya Jovanovski, co-franchisee of Rawson Auctions in the Western Cape, her team will be auctioning, by instruction of the bank, another Montagu farm.
This farm, says Jovanovski, was previously on the market for R3,5 million, but now bids starting from R2 million will be accepted.
The property, she says, could either be used as a home, a retreat or it could be used for a full time farming operation. The farm is on 69 ha — 25 of which have been appropriated for peach and apricot cultivation (which are micro irrigated), 0,5 for Colombard grapes and one for Lucerne and gooseberries. These crops generate around R1 million per annum in sales.
The farm’s water is sourced from a dam which is situated on the property and also provides water for the its neighbour, as well as a shared pipeline which the farm has rights to draw from.
The homestead on the property, which was built in 1902, has four bedrooms, a family room, kitchen and bathroom. There is also a garage, two servants cottages and a large irrigated garden.
The farming operation is VAT registered and can be sold, with all of its equipment, as a “going concern” — making it a very attractive investment.
This auction will be done by silent tender and the winner will be announced at the Rawson Property Group’s head office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch on 30th October. All bids should be sent to info@rawsonauctions.com.
The Consumer Protection Act regulations stipulate that all bidders be registered and that they bring certified copies of their identity documents and proof of residence. Rawson Auctions have not asked bidders to pay an auction fee, but their terms and conditions insist on a 5% deposit on the purchase price and a 10% auctioneer’s commission, plus VAT, to be paid on the fall of the hammer.
