Beneath the foothills of the Bottelary Mountains, Kuils River is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery and offers a wide variety of real estate from high-end homes to small student apartments, smallholdings, commercial and industrial premises as well as farms.
Location and access
Kuils River Industrial is adjacent to Bellville, Brackenfell, Eikenbosch, Belhar, Blue Downs and Eerste Rivier. Cape Town lies about 30 kilometres away, with Cape Town International Airport at a distance of 24 kilometres. Stellenbosch and Somerset West are 19 and 26 kilometres away, respectively. The R102 forms the north eastern boundary, with the M12 or Polkadraai Road at the southern perimeter. The N1, giving access to the Free State and Gauteng, lies a few kilometres west of Kuils River Industrial, while to the south the N2 gives access to the Garden Route and Eastern Cape. A regular train service provides transport, with stations at Sarepta, Kuils River, as well as Blackheath. Municipal buses do not serve the area but Golden Arrow buses plus minibus taxis fill the void. The future MyCiti bus and rail service improvement programme will include Kuils River, but is only due for completion by 2032.
Commercial and industrial property
Kuils River is considered the gateway to the Cape wine routes, particularly the Durbanville Wine Route. Wine and olives are an integral part of local commerce. Zewenwacht, Dormershire, Hazendal in addition to Saxenburg are wine estates in the area boasting award winning wines as well as superb restaurants. Zewenwacht has a cheesery as well as a spa. Shopping centres in the area include Zewenwacht Mall located on the corner of Polkadraai and Van Riebeeck Roads. It boasts over 100 stores ranging from clothing and homeware to outdoor equipment, boutiques and groceries. Langverwacht Mall, the Shoprite Shopping Centre as well as several neighbourhood convenience centres add to the spectrum of retail outlets.

Amenities
Kuils River residential suburbs are restful and family orientated, catering for all tastes and budgets. The Zewenwacht area has some up-market housing estates such as The Oaks. There are plenty of shopping centres, restaurants and coffee shops. Well-appointed guest houses and B & B’s offer excellent holiday or business accommodation. The Galileo Open Air Cinema hosts movies at certain wine farms, while G-Force Paintball provides some active fun. Wine estates offer tastings, often combined with food pairings. Driftsands Nature Reserve is slowly recovering from years of neglect. A scholar education centre has been established there. The Kuils River Golf Course is popular, not only for golf but also for its scenic views and great birdlife. Hotels, shopping malls, entertainment venues and cinemas are also accessible in surrounding suburbs. Nearby hiking trails in the adjacent mountains, along with the scenic wonders of the area cater for outdoor enthusiasts.
Schools in the area include Mikro, Kalkfontein, Good Hope, Kuils River and Serepta Primary Schools. Kuils River Technical, and Good Hope, de Kuilen, Jan Kriel Institute, Western Cape Sports School and Destinatus Private School cater for secondary education. Netcare Kuilsriver provides medical care, but Elsie’s River and Tygerberg hospitals are not far away.
Kuils River offers realistic rentals, accessibility, first-class residential property, schools, retail outlets, entertainment, besides amazing scenery and access to the great outdoors. It is an excellent place to live, work and relax.
