Houtkapperspoort, the security estate situated below Constantia Nek on the Hout Bay Road, has recently been the scene of a fast, successful sales effort handled by the Rawson Property Group’s Hout Bay franchise, which is owned by Piet van der Merwe and his son, Ray.
The marketing of nine of the twenty nine cottages at Houtkapperspoort began at the end of 2012 and was handled by the partnership of Denise Hey and Cheri Labuschagne of the Rawson Property Group’s Hout Bay franchise — who sold a high percentage of the cottages within the first two weeks of the sales launch, and by the end of 2013 had sold fourteen cottages altogether.
Houtkapperspoort is situated on over five hectares, has magnificent mountain views and has access to the Table Mountain walking trails and both the Constantia and Hout Bay retail centres. The estate is beautifully maintained and has its own swimming pool and tennis court. The cottages vary from one to four bedrooms, with sizes ranging from 46 m2 to 221 m2 and have recently been selling from R2 to R3 million each.
“I do believe that those who bought here have the best of all possible worlds,” said van der Merwe. “They can, if they so wish, stay here full or part time and in any period when the cottages are not occupied, the owners can put their units into a rental pool, where they can earn an income from the highly competitive daily rates achievable in the holiday seasons. There are not many estates where short term rentals are so frequent and profitable.”
Rawson’s Hout Bay now has a waiting list of clients wishing to buy property in Houtkapperspoort.
