Recently added to their stock list is a very large, centrally located, two storey home in Claremont, says Tanya Jovanovski, co-franchisee for Rawson Auctions in the Western Cape.
The house was built by an Italian master builder and has since been revamped by the current owners — it has marble bathrooms, spacious living areas, suite sized bedrooms and Canadian Oregon floors, doors and cabinets.
“Due to the fact that this home has been built in a way that allows independent living on the lower and upper floors,” says Jovanovski, “it is an ideal home for either a large family, a work from home family or for an upmarket bed and breakfast.”
The upper floor, she added, is accessed via a modern and light outside entrance.
The second storey comprises a large lounge and dining room with an enclosed sunroom — all with views of the Kirstenbosch side of Table Mountain — and a modern kitchen, two large bedrooms with built-in cupboards, one of which is en-suite.
The self-contained downstairs section of the home consists of an entrance hall, formal lounge, dining room, modern kitchen/family area, two large en-suite bedrooms, a study, two garages, a store room, a separate laundry, an enclosed patio that leads onto the garden and staff quarters with a separate shower and toilet.
The home, said Jovanovski, has security walls and beams and an established garden with irrigation.
Jovanovski recommends that bids start from R3,9 million. The auction will take place at the Rawson Property Group’s head office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch on the 20th of November at 12 noon.
Rawson Auctions expect a 5% auctioneer’s deposit to be paid on the fall of the hammer as well as 10% commission on the sales price. They do not charge a bidder’s registration fee, but in terms of the Consumer Protection Act all those attending auctions in South Africa today must have proof of identity and proof of residence.
