Rawson Developers Win-A-Home competition, which targeted the readers of the Weekend Argus and the Independent Newspaper groups community newspapers, has had a huge impact, says Bill Rawson, Chairman of the Rawson Property Group.
'The regular ongoing coverage of a period of five months,' he says, 'is doing more to improve our reputation and image than any other single promotional exercise we have yet been involved in. It has been estimated that almost three quarter of a million readers are seeing the insert each fortnight and we are, gratifyingly, now being congratulated on '˜doing something for our community, especially as the eventual winner could well be a person who currently has no home of his own '“ as happened on a previous Rawson competition'
Flyers publicising the competition, says Rawson, were also distributed at the Outdoor Expo, the Boat Show, the Home Makers Expo as well as certain retail centres.
Rawson Properties Brand Manager, Honorata Saar, says that the competition kicked off 15th July and is attracting approximately 6 000 entries in each of its five phases. Entry forms appear in the Cape Argus every Friday and in the Weekend Argus on Saturdays and Sundays. Readers are asked to cut out these forms and then paste on the entry forms the four separate components of a picture of the open plan interior of the unit on offer as a prize. The '˜clues can be found in the Cape Argus from Monday to Thursday.
After every five weeks a finalist is drawn, but all who have not so far been selected for this are welcome to enter again and in every phase of the competition any member of the public is entitled to submit as many entries as he likes, provided he uses the original cuttings and does not photocopy the clues.
On 20th December the five finalists will gather at the site of the apartment on offer as the prize. Each will be given a key and asked to try and enter the apartment. However only one key will give access to it and the owner of that key will, of course, be the prizewinner and become the new owner of the unit. The Rawson Property Group will pay all the transfer fees.
Saar says that the one bedroom unit being offered as a prize is in the second phase of Rawson Developers Rondebosch Oaks project, one the fastest selling ever to come on the Cape market. The apartment could, she says, attract some R5,000 per month in rental because it is conveniently close both to the Rondebosch station (400 metres away) and UCT (2km away as the crow flies).
Rondebosch Oaks is described in the competitions promotional literature as having '˜lavish lawns, abundant greenery and attractive outdoor areas as well as glorious views of Devils Peak and Table Mountains southern spine. Every unit has a balcony. The finishes include granite tops in the kitchens and porcelain tiles on the floors. Security has been a top priority in the design and planning: the entire site is enclosed in a high security fence and the entrance is guarded by a guardhouse.
