Auctions can achieve prices compatible with those on the open market

Further proof, if proof were needed, that the auctioneers operating in Cape Town today can achieve competitive prices comes with the news that Rawson Auctions CEO, Tanya Jovanovski, has sold for R2 271 000, a three bedroom home in an Upper Kenilworth security village, Chartwell Place.

'This price,' said Jovanovski, 'is comparable with sale prices in the area. Quality residential properties here are much in demand, which is one reason why we could find a buyer in under two months'

Sellers and buyers, she added, are getting used to the auction process, which is losing its former poor '˜desperate sellers image and has the big advantage of eliminating endless bargaining, leaving the seller free of commission charges.

The 134m2 double storey home, described by Jason Lee, Rawson Auctions strategist and legal expert, as a 'Georgian townhouse of a very superior type', has built-in cupboards, an en suite main bedroom with double vanity counters, an open plan kitchen with granite tops, a built-in hob and extractor and open plan living and dining areas, the latter with a gas fireplace. All the main rooms also have underfloor heating and TV points.

'The clean, modern interiors and the gracious, simple fa§ades (with the plaster mouldings around doors and windows highlighted in white) make this a beautiful home and one which it has been a great pleasure to sell,' said Jovanovski.
