For the second year in a row, the Rawson Property Group’s Helderberg Basin team (with franchises in Somerset West, Strand and Gordon’s Bay) has scooped up a Chairman’s Award – one of the group’s most highly respected awards. Received at the recent annual awards ceremony in Paarl, the team in fact walked away with a total of 16 awards, including a top five placement in the Top Rental Franchise and National Highest Fees Earned competitions. They also took a number of spots in the group’s prestigious Pinnacle Club, which recognizes exceptional individual and franchise performance on an annual basis.
“2015 was another great year for us and these awards help to validate our hard work, show the strength of our team and further propel us to do even better things this year,” explains Schalk van der Merwe, who with his father Johann van der Merwe and co-franchisee Wouter Joubert, manages the Somerset West, Strand and Gordon’s Bay sales offices.
“2015 saw us focus all of our attention on strengthening and expanding the brand in our areas. This resulted in our opening the Gordon’s Bay office and firing up a commercial division servicing the Helderberg and Stellenbosch areas – evidence of our utmost confidence in this region.”
Both new enterprises, says van der Merwe, did exceptionally well in their first year. The Gordon’s Bay office notched up 86 sales in the 12-month period and the area provided good buy-to-let investment opportunities with very healthy rental yields. The four person strong commercial team, led by co-franchisee Johann van der Merwe Jnr, signed up four to five leases per month and was awarded a Pinnacle Award for outstanding performance.
“The older arms of our business faired just as well,” said van der Merwe. “We increased our total market share in both Somerset West and Strand, seeing an increase of 13.3% in units for sale and our rental division, also led by Johann Jnr, saw significant growth, receiving the third place spot in the aforementioned Top Rental Franchise competition.”
In addition to expansion, 2015 was the year this team used technology and their unique support model, which ensures the optimal efficiency of their agents, to make sure their value proposition led the market.
So what’s in store for 2016?
“We are confident that we will see further growth this year,” said van der Merwe. We will continue to strengthen and expand our position in the Helderberg Basin, despite forecasts of tough times ahead with low economic growth and interest rate hikes on the horizon.”
“We have see positive growth in both value and units over the past 10 years and we will continue to achieve impressive results thanks to our support model and our amazing team of people who constantly strive for service excellence. 2016 will definitely be another winner for us!”
