A home next to the Old Biscuit Mill sold, post auction, for a good price

News

As she predicted only a few weeks ago, Tanya Jovanovski, co-franchisee for Rawson Auctions in the Western Cape, has been able to quickly find a buyer for the 340 m2 home situated on the road behind Woodstock’s famous, open air Old Biscuit Mill market and retail centre.

The offer was received on the day the auction took place, on the 24th of July, at the Rawson Property Group’s head office at 222 Main Road Rondebosch. The offer was below the reserve price and was negotiated, post auction, to a price which was acceptable to both the buyer and seller. The Rawson Auctions’ team finalised the sale at a gross price of R2,5 million — this excludes commission.

At the time of the original announcement, Jovanovski said that, although the building had for some 60 years served as a home cum workshop, its position and its attractive Edwardian styling would attract attention. The house is situated between a vacant plot and a factory and Jovanovski has predicted that properties in Woodstock will escalate rapidly in value over the next few years because, despite increased prices, they still offer accommodation for both offices and residential tenants at prices that compare very favourably with those of central Cape Town.
